Map of Chicago areas and attractions

The Loop

Among the large number of hotels present, the great variety of restaurants and bars, theaters and clubs, the Art Deco style buildings and the relaxing Millennium Park it is obvious that most tourists choose this area to stay. If you consider that the connections with public transport are excellent, that's it. But, as always, there is the dark side of the coin: hosting the business district of the city, in the evening and on weekends, The Loop is decidedly unattractive for those who want to have fun.

The Magnificent Mile & River North

The real Chicago we've always dreamed of is the one that reigns in The Magnificent Mile and, in particular, in Michigan Avenue. Skyscrapers and refined boutiques are the order of the day and for those who don't have budget problems this area is certainly the best to fully enjoy their travel experience in Chicago; well connected by public transport, it is not necessary to rent a car.

A few steps from The Magnificent Mile is River North, here too luxury and glitz are the masters. In addition to the city's most renowned restaurants and prestigious art galleries, River North offers some of the city's most impressive evening viewpoints. Attractions include the John Hancock Center and the Signature Room; it should be noted that the connections with public transport are good.

The Gold Coast & Old Town

For nightlife lovers, The Gold Coast is the ideal neighborhood, with plenty of places to stay in the wee hours. Moreover, it borders the Magnificent Mile, the most chic part of the city, easily reachable on foot.

Old Town is a little further away, it has a very characteristic air, but not typical of Chicago: residential and quiet is not exactly the first choice for those who want to discover the most authentic part of the city.

O’Hare e Midway

Just minutes from the airports, these areas are perfect for business travelers or those in transit in Chicago, but certainly not for tourists. The heart of the city is about 30-40 minutes away and wasting so much time traveling is certainly not ideal.

Near Wrigley Field (Wrigleyville)

It is not the center of Chicago, but neither is it in the suburbs (about 20 minutes from downtown, well connected by public transportation). Staying near Wrigley Field can be a good choice for those who have already visited Chicago and are not particularly interested in spending all the time in the Downtown, but prefer to discover a more "human scale" side of the busy city; otherwise for your first time in Chicago it is better to choose a hotel in areas with a more tourist spirit.

Where to sleep in Chicago with children

Those who travel with little ones know how important it is to count both on structures that offer tailor-made services (flexibility in meal times, availability of cots, cots, high chairs ...) and are also in strategic positions to quickly reach the sites of interest. for families.

In Chicago, there are some areas that are more recommended than others to sleep with children:

Magnificent Mile

The shopping street, in addition to being an attraction for all ages of tourists, is just a few meters from Navy Pier, Millennium Park and the Chicago Children's Museum, three sites that always make every family happy.

Around Lincoln Park

Peaceful and quiet, this area is ideal for families who, by definition, want to get some relaxation from the hectic City routine. Lincoln Park also houses the zoo, an attraction that always makes children happy, among other attractions the Chicago History Museum, the Lincoln Park Cultural Center, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium.

Among other things you can do around here, why not organize an afternoon at the theater (the Theater District is nearby) or a nice stroll along North Avenue Beach?

The heart of the city is a bit away and having a car to get around is not bad; alternatively it can be considered if the hotels offer a shuttle service.
