3 - Argentina: Buenos Aires and Tierra del Fuego

Absolutely to visit the tropical reserve El Yunque National Forest, where you can go trekking and see unspoiled nature, bird wartching is particularly interesting: there are some really rare species. But the wonder of wonders you will see at night at the Reserva Natural de La Bahia Bioluminescente, stopping for a night or two in the nearby village of Palmarejo: the reserve is so called because thanks to a chemical reaction caused by millions of microscopic algae (dinoflagellates) the waters are tinged with a luminescent blue color visible at night.

I already seem to hear you exclaim: "But isn't it cold in Northern Europe in January?" Of course yes, but you will want to put the thrill of seeing the landscape of frozen fjords? Just equip yourself well and take a few more hot chocolate breaks.

5 - Split, Dubrovnik, Athens

This part of the Mediterranean could not be missing from the list, which offers a mild climate and enchanting places. This is the Balkan part of the sea in the middle of the land, the one that goes from the Croatian coast to the Greek one.

The tour starts from Split, with the beautiful Diocletian's palace in the center, which was the ancient fortress of the city. in major northern cities in Italy in winter there are fewer tourists, hotels are cheaper and you don't suffer from the heat in the city. Also there is a great deal cultural ferment, with exhibitions and events.

Let's start with Milan, a European and multicultural city. You can't miss the Castello Sforzesco and a visit to the Duomo and terraces, the columns of San Lorenzo where university life comes alive and of course the Navigli, refurbished and redeveloped in recent years.

The journey proceeds to Florence, which needs no introduction. Gray and gloomy winter days? Perfect for a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery, Michelangelo's David and the Cathedral with dome, bell tower and baptistery.

Then we continue to Bologna, cultural center with great energy. The entire Italian Alpine arc offers, during the winter, numerous suggestive locations and really fun sporting activities in contact with nature, which is why after Trentino it was impossible not to foresee a itinerary in Val d'Aosta, with the majestic Mont Blanc.
