The cheapest months are from October to March, which is the period considered less touristy, parties excluded. In fact, the Loire is a region besieged by visitors from all over the world, especially in spring and summer. Choosing autumn is an excellent solution for those who want to enjoy the landscapes of the region without giving up outdoor excursions with still pleasant temperatures.

Loire in Spring

Spring is the wettest season for the Loire region, but despite this it is also the season in which the flowers of the gardens that surround the wonderful French castles bloom giving wonderful colors and shapes.

Among the main attractions to visit are the castles: there are the Château of Amboise, the Château of Montsoreau, the Château of Gaillard, the Château of Chenonceau, the Château of Villandry and the Château of Chenonceau.

In this period there is no shortage of events either. In April, the sensory journey offered by Chartres en Lumieres, the event during which the city of Chartres lights up with the setting up of colorful luminaries, is suggestive. May is the month dedicated to Joan of Arc, the heroine is therefore celebrated with historical re-enactments and ceremonies in the city of Orleans.

Loire in Summer

Even in summer it is possible to enjoy the wonderful castles that dot the Loire region, the gardens are all in bloom and the temperatures are particularly favorable allow long walks and excursions. One of the most recommended activities is the bike tour in the Loire Valley or the balloon flight from Chenonceau!

Molto suitable for wine lovers is the Foire aux Vin, an experience that will lead you to taste the most prestigious products of the French wine tradition in the vineyards of Sancerre, during a weekend in June (the dates change every year). Les Clairs de Lune de Chambord, on the other hand, is a series of events that see plays of light and music in the castle of the same name and that take place during the course of the summer. Loire in Autumn

Autumn is the ideal season for those who want to immerse themselves in the Loire region savoring its historical and magical taste. The climate usually makes it possible to take long walks along the streams and the Loire river, where you can discover the wonders of nature.

Also visiting the castles is a particularly suggestive experience, thanks to the typically autumnal colors it will be like going back in time. Furthermore, this season we advise you to take advantage too of the visit of the main cities, starting from the capital Nantes.

One of the most significant experiences is the one offered by the Chaumont-sur-Loire, which organizes the Autumn Days and opens its doors to visitors to relive its history, its charm and of course the beauty of its enchanting garden. A visit on the weekend of All Saints is recommended. In addition, the Loria Festival is held every two years in late September in Orleans, one of the most loved and heartfelt events! Shows, concerts, gastronomy and much more will enliven these unmissable days!

Loire in Winter

Despite the frigid temperatures, the winter version of the Loire will make snow lovers crazy: visiting the castles covered with a white mantle is certainly a unique and special experience. To visit along the snowy avenues are the castles of Fontainebleau, of Chambord, the medieval fortress of Chinon.

On the occasion of the Christmas period, moreover, it is obvious to reiterate that all cities, such as Nantes, Orleans, Sainte Etienne, will be embellished with luminaries and decorations of all kinds, to admire before being pampered by the warmth of a cozy café.
