What to do for Valentine's Day: ideas and events

E' a charming and romantic city all year round, so on Valentine's Day it is really a highly recommended destination.

Located on the banks of the Danube River, in the evening the most important monuments, like the Parliament or the Fishermen's Bastion, light up, giving a magical atmosphere. Not to forget the many and beautiful spas, among which the most famous are certainly those of Széchenyi, which are worth a visit.
Let's find out together which are the romantic activities not to be missed:

1 - Danube cruise with dinner and live music

One of the must-do experiences when visiting Budapest is a cruise on the Danube. Cruises run all day, but the evening is the most magical moment. So why not combine the beauty of the illuminated city with an unforgettable evening?

By taking part in a cruise on the Danube with dinner and live music you can enjoy the beautiful panorama of the city, but also enjoy a good dinner choosing from different options, all accompanied by excellent music. This type of experience has an average duration of 2 hours. Don't forget to have a romantic photo taken as soon as you pass the illuminated Parliament!

  • Cost: starting from € 95,00 per couple
  • Info: the cost also includes the pick-up service from the hotel, which will take you directly to the pier where the cruise will be waiting for you; no dress code is required

2 - Cruise on the Danube with Champagne

Would you like to live the cruise experience but without dinner? Don't worry, the cruises run all day. To make this experience even more romantic, we recommend enjoying an evening champagne cruise, for toast to you and your love with the illuminated Parliament in the background!

This type of cruise lasts one hour, as soon as you board there your drink will be offered and then you can sit either in the inside cabin or on the outside platform. But, as temperatures can be very cold in February, our advice is to stay inside to enjoy the experience to the fullest!

  • Cost: starting from € 30,00 per couple
  • Info: Batthyány tér meeting point, pier 1; easily accessible on foot or by taking the M2 metro or the H5 bus and getting off at Batthyány tér; make sure you wear warm clothes, especially if you want to stay on the outside terrace, the wind increases the perception of cold - Get directions

Budapest is also known for its wonderful spas! In the city there are several, each one that best suits the needs of each person. But the most famous of all are the Széchenyi Baths, located north of the historic center. These spas date back to 1913 and include a dome, large pools and water jet massages.

Our advice is to enjoy a whole day of relaxation (you can easily buy the 1-day priority pass online to avoid unnecessary queues at the entrance and at the ticket office). You can relax between 3 outdoor and 15 indoor pools and in February, being in the outdoor pool, perhaps with snow, will be truly a wonderful experience.
