Located in the ancient area of the Fertile Crescent, it borders Israel, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia and is washed by the waters of the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. The only large river is the Jordan which flows into the Dead Sea. The country is mostly desert and can be divided into three different geographical areas:

If you intend to continue to Israel, remember to always take the tourist visa with you that will be delivered to you at the Amman airport, otherwise you may have a lot of difficulty crossing the border between the two countries.
    • Safety: among the countries of the Middle East it is the safest. Terrorist incidents have been quite rare: the most significant occurred in December 2016 in Karaq. However, recently it is possible to turn in total safety and, indeed, you will be amazed by the well-known friendliness of the Jordanian people. For more info, visit the Farnesina website.
    • Useful Tips: if you travel in autumn and winter, we recommend that you pay attention to the risk of possible sudden floods in the vicinity of Wadi Rum and the numerous canyons that can be visited in the country.

Accommodation and meals have a negligible cost: it is in fact possible to stay in hotels that start from € 25,00 per room per night, prices that drop considerably if you opt for hostels or guesthouses. You can eat well and abundantly in a mid-range restaurant by spending just about ten euros each.

The greatest cost is related to transport: if you are traveling alone, in fact, you will be forced to travel by taxi or to rent a private vehicle. In the latter case, you may have to spend a few hundred euros (the good thing ?! The low cost of petrol!).
