Attica is a region of very central eastern Greece known and popular as it is home to the country's capital, i.e. Athens. Every year, especially in the summer months, thousands of tourists flock to the city to discover the evidence of ancient Greek culture, perhaps the cradle of the entire civilization, as well as the important archaeological sites nearby, such as Cape Sounion. But Attica is not only Athens and, always in summer, the favorite destinations are the coastal resorts and the islands of the Saronic Gulf, such as Hydra, Spetses, or Aegina.

    Where it is

    Attica is a region of mainland Greece and is located in the central-eastern part of the country. It is also one of the most popular and visited areas because the capital Athens is located here.
    Being a peninsula it is bathed on three sides by the Aegean Sea, while in the north it is divided from Boezia by Mount Parnete. This is a mainly mountainous area, surrounded by numerous mountain ranges: Mount Imetto to the east, Mount Pendeli to the north and the Aigaleo mountains to the west.

    Greece is one medium economic destination and the Attica region is no exception, especially in the low season, such as spring and autumn. In the summer, however, which is the peak period, there can be spikes in prices, especially those that affect everyday life. If you go during this period we suggest you book as soon as possible.

    Regarding the costs specifically, reaching Athens is very simple and cheap, as it is connected with Italy from numerous low cost flights, by booking early you will find excellent offers. For accommodation there is a wide choice, from luxury hotels to characteristic b & bs, beautiful hotels on the beach or apartments that will allow you to be more independent,

    • Getting around: in Athens and in the cities on foot. The main attractions are all close together. To reach Piraeus, the port area, you can use the train (15 min, € 2,00 each way).
