What to see in Formentera: the most evocative corners of the island
Although small, the island truly offers plenty to do, in addition to Caribbean beaches and land and sea sporting activities. Today I bring you on a trip to the hinterland (and not only): wonderful and characterized by picturesque landscapes, lighthouses, history and a lot of nature. Here's what to see in Formentera during a vacation.
La Mola Lighthouse:
We have talked several times about the Lighthouses of Formentera, - there are several on the island - but perhaps the best known is the Faro de La Mola considered by many to be a magical corner. Even the writer Jules Verne in his novel “The Adventures of Ettore Servadac” talks about this place. The Lighthouse is located in the westernmost part of the island and from here there are several paths that lead to woods and green vegetation. In the square next to the lighthouse every Wednesday the craft market takes place, a typical event not to be missed.
Estany Des Peix:
Have you ever noticed this lake? You can see it along the road that leads from the port to San Francesc. Even if it is small it is difficult not to see it. The small lake with a narrow opening towards the sea allows the entry of some boats. Take a walk around the perimeter to observe the natural environment.
Punta de Sa Pedrera:
Let's move to the eastern part of the island and find a steep coast Sa Pedrera, formed by rocks. We visit this coast with a boat. Perhaps some of you already know it if you practice water sports, as snorkeling excursions are often organized here.
I'm a heritage of the island of Formentera for several reasons. First of all because before tourism, salt represented the main economic source of the country, and secondly because today they are a place where you can find peace and harmony in contact with nature. Bicycle or walking routes are recommended to fully enjoy the wonders of the landscape. Please, we will never tire of repeating it: be responsible tourists. We have the opportunity to admire a true wealth of nature, let's not spoil it.
