Moving forward with the ranking, we discover that the fourth country that has reacted best to the global health emergency is the Thailand, which in recent days has decided to introduce a new tax for international tourists that will be used to provide travelers insurance benefits, as well as for the development of tourist destinations and infrastructures.



Finally, in fifth place in the ranking of nations that have distinguished themselves in the fight against Covid-19 we find the island of Cyprus, another popular destination for its beaches and fascinating cultural and natural heritage.

"In general, countries with smaller populations, cohesive societies and capable institutions have a comparative advantage in dealing with a global crisis such as a pandemic," explained experts from the Lowy Institute.


The Australian academic think tank examined each country's response to the pandemic on the basis of six indicators, including the total number of coronavirus cases and deaths, swabs performed and the percentage of positivity.
