Legambiente produces every year the document "Urban Ecosystem", a report on the environmental performance of Italian cities. From this report the ranking of the least polluted cities in Italy, which assesses the quality of air, water, waste management, mobility, and energy. 10 - Ferrara: Score 68,55
The beautiful Emilian city gains a position in the top 10 thanks to a truly incredible value for what concerns the separate collection of waste, which is around 80% (well above the average of Italian cities, which stands at 55% ).
9 - Oristano: Score 69,01
Although Oristano is not among the top municipalities as regards the ranking of national GDP, it is still a commendable reality as regards the urban ecosystem. This confirms that to improve the level of pollution in the city, it is often sufficient to simply spend the few resources well, evolve and plan future transformations.
8 - Belluno: Score 68,94
Present in the Top 10 for years, the quality of life remains very good, thanks to the improvement of waste collection and the good number of cycle paths.
7 - Treviso: Score 68,56
Good quality of life, a classic city on a human scale. Clean air, efficient transport, good progress in entrusting renewable energy.
6 - Pesaro: Score 70,63
Pesaro is a new entry. In recent years, good measures have been taken to deal with the environmental emergency and the concept of pollution prevention. Today it is among the virtuous cities of Italy, as well as its beaches, whose waters are among the cleanest in the country.
5 - Parma: Score 74,72
Parma deserves the leap forward above all because of the incredible increase in separate collection: from 8% to 72%!
4 - Pordenone: Score 75,45
Pordenone also stands out in a positive way thanks to its excellent urban condition, with cycle paths and pedestrian areas.
3 - Bolzano: Score 76,40
Bolzano almost makes no mistakes. Excellent amount of fine dust emission, almost 70% of the differentiated, only 30% use of private vehicles for travel. An ideal town to live and grow.
2 - Mantua: Score 80,59
Mantua is a city where everyone would like to live. Excellent water network and sewage system, excellent air quality, with low harmful emissions, but above all, it is al second place overall for km of cycle paths per inhabitant.
1 - Trento: Score 81,20
We are facing a city that for separate collection goes over 80%. An almost unique case in Italy. If we add to this an excellent water network and an energy supply that for more than 50% comes from renewable energy ... this explains its positioning!
