"The Tumb" is the home of the Skull and Bones Society, the most exclusive of Yale's secret associations. Every year fifteen students of the last course receive the initiation to become part of this group, a real launching pad towards power since its foundation, which took place one hundred and seventy-two years ago.

Today the Skull and Bones Society has 800 members for life, united in a faithfulness that is proven even by participating in a whole series of more or less dark rites. The Bonesmans include, in addition to George W. Bush and his father, former President George HW Bush, also his uncle Jonathan Bush, his paternal uncles John Walzer and George Herbert Walzer III and his grandfather, Prescott Bush. In addition, the current president of the United States has called at least five members of the association to occupy various positions in his administration. But if he hadn't been the Republican candidate to win the election, another Yale graduate and member of Skull and Bones would have taken his place: John F. Kerry.

Among other things, this association acts as a transmission belt to the Supreme Court, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the most prestigious law firms and boards of directors in the country.

Initiation rite

As far as is known, a ritual is carried out using bones, which are said to be of the Indian chief Geronimo and which would be in the possession of this group, kept in a room normally not accessible to anyone, at Yale, where, in fact, it is celebrated. this annual initiation rite. It is certainly a Masonic rite, as a style, because the adept must stay in a coffin, therefore it is a symbolic death and rebirth rite. The initiate must also reveal things that he would be ashamed to talk about normally, they concern his way of living sexuality in the first place, it is a kind of purification, a parody of the Catholic confession.

The story of the Skull and Bones secret society begins at Yale, the prestigious US university. It was founded in 1832, by William Russell and Alphonso Taft, and appears to be an American emanation of German Masonic lodges, linked to the cult of the Illuminati, the Rosicrucians and the Templar tradition. Together with thirteen not very cheerful fellow soldiers, Russell and Taft established codes and rituals faithfully respected until today.

Every year, fifteen particularly deserving students are co-opted into the association of the Skulls, they receive an initiation in Masonic style (they are lowered into a coffin, covered with a black cloth depicted with a skull and two crossed femurs: the well-known symbol of the pirates is borrowed from the Masonic tradition, of which English piracy was an important operational arm, so much so as to have among its most significant leaders a Mason Grand Master such as Sir Francis Drake). Here is how an initiation rite of Skull and Bones is described to Knight and Lomas (the leading experts on Skulls, authors of The Key of Hiram):

Tales of a Bonesman

I was blindfolded, I was wearing abundant white clothing and simple slippers on my foot (the expression used is "barefoot"), but my left knee was bare and, on the same side, the raised hem of my tunic uncovered me. chest. Unbeknownst to me, a noose had been threaded around my neck and the rope was hanging down my body. Thus dressed, and stripped of any metallic object, I was ready to be admitted into the temple ”. Inside the temple, the aspiring Skull is lowered into the coffin covered with the pirate flag. After that, a complex path through the loggia begins:

“After the ceremony resumed, the guide made me walk the entire perimeter of the temple, stopping three times to introduce myself as a« humble aspirant immersed in darkness ». Although inaccessible to my sight, the floor in the center of the temple had a mosaic of black and white tiles: on the east side was the chair of the venerable master, while those of the first and second overseers, lower, were on the sides. oriented respectively to the south and west ".

It is the last act: ritual exchanges of formulas welcome the new adept. The solemn affiliation ceremony takes place inside the Tomb, the eerie building that houses Skull and Bones, and which is effectively reproduced in Rob Cohen's film. Skyrocketing bank accounts, unimaginable contacts at the highest level (political, financial, military and institutional): Skull and Bones promises (and maintains) this horizon of glory to its followers.

Just scroll through the prestigious surnames that are present in the very secret (but not so much, evidently) registers of gold of the Skulls: Lord, Whitney, Taft, Jay, Bundy, Harriman, Weyerhaeuser, Pinchot, Rockefeller, Goodyear, Sloane, Stimson, Phelps , Perkins, Pillsbury, Kellogg, Vanderbilt, Bush, Lovett. For those unfamiliar with them, suffice it to say that they are the backbone of American Power.
