New York is the most desired city in the United States: the iconic attractions of New York are taken by storm by all travelers who land in the New World and want to profitably enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Big Apple.

As a popular tourist destination (and quite expensive - see our article "How much does a trip to New York cost" ...), we have noticed that thecity pass offer it was becoming wider and more differentiated, so much so that many of our readers were asking us for help in choosing the best formula for their needs. For this reason, in addition to our comparison article of the various New York passes, we have decided to write detailed cards, with all the useful information for the purchase, use and characteristics of the individual products. After the Sightseeing Pass Day today we are dealing with its sister product Sightseeing Pass Flex. Enjoy the reading!

As we have seen, the Sightseeing Pass presents itself on the New York city pass market as a very competitive product, capable of equalizing and, in some cases, outweigh the benefits well-known passes such as the New York Pass, the New York CityPASS or the Go City New York Explorer Pass.

In designing the Sightseeing Pass Flex - which we will examine here - the company was inspired by the Go City New York Explorer Pass just mentioned: the company providing this pass thus offered the public a complementary product to the Sightseeing Pass Day, but structured according to a different philosophy, in order to meet the needs of travelers less inclined to that formula.

    A small premise ...

Before reading the review, compare yourself with the article you find at the link below, which will help you get an idea of all the alternatives available. This way you will know how to compare this product with other passes.

Sightseeing Pass Flex: how does it work?

As we have mentioned, the philosophy of the Sightseeing Pass Flex is the mirror image of that of the Go City New York Explorer Pass: basically you don't pay for the number of days (which remains stuck at 60) but for the number of attractions that we intend to visit during our time in the Big Apple. You have the option to purchase a pass that is valid for 2, 3, 4 5, 6, 7, 10 o 12 attractions to choose from among all those that are present in the rich Sightseeing catalog.

    What does the pass include?

By purchasing a Sightseeing Pass Flex, you will be able to enter for once in each of the attractions / tours / restaurants included in the offer, limited to the number of attractions included in the pass you have chosen. Remember that you cannot enter the same attraction multiple times or do the same tour multiple times.

You can also take advantage of discounts on Broadway shows, on adventure tours (including NY helicopter tours) and on all the other attractions in the SPECIAL OFFER & DISCOUNTS section: the discounts included in the package can also be used all, but only once a day for the duration of the pass.

Furthermore, for those who buy the pass from the official website, a $ 40 credit on selected attractions and activities. To find out which attractions the discount is applicable to and how to redeem it, refer to our Sightseeing Day Pass review, where you will find a detailed explanation (more precisely here).

PLEASE NOTE: If you find it written “FAST TRACK” it means that in that case you can also skip the queue. Here is the list of attractions for which currently you can skip the queue:

    • Buca di beppo
    • Buffalo Wild Wings – Brooklyn
    • Buffalo Wild Wings – Harlem
    • Buffalo Wild Wings – Times Square
    • Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
    • Madame Tussauds New York
    • Planet Hollywood
    • Ripley’s Believe it or Not!
    • The Metropolitan Museum of Art

To check if any activities have recently been added or removed from the Fast Track, you can always check the dedicated page.

    SightSeeing Flex Pass: attractions

L‘offerta del SightSeeing Flex Pass it is very varied and interesting: in the list you will find various attractions, museums, parks and gardens, tours on foot, by bike, by bus, cruises, discounts for restaurants, shows and activities.

To get a better idea of what the pass includes, I invite you to consult the official website, which lists all the attractions and tours in detail.

    Attractions not to be missed

Here are what they are in my opinion some of the best attractions included in the pass:

    • Freedom Tower (One World Observatory)
    • Empire State Building
    • The Edge
    • Top of the Rock
    • Cruise to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
    • 11/XNUMX Museum
    • MoMA Museum
    • Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art)
    • Discounts on Broadway shows
    • Discounts on the helicopter tour in New York
    • Hop on - Hop off bus valid for 72 hours + night tour

Please note:: The characteristics of the New York passes may vary over time (e.g. number and type of attractions, as well as percentage of savings). We therefore invite you to check on the official website, indicated at the bottom of the article, for any changes.

    Reservations and Refunds

The various New York passes have adapted in various ways to cope with recent global changes.

In particular, the need to reduce the capacity of closed spaces has led to the obligation of having to book in advance your own entrance to many attractions.

To understand which are the places where the day and time of your visit must be indicated, I invite you to consult the description of the attractions on the official page of the pass.

As regards the refunds, the Sightseeing Flex Pass offers the possibility of buy insurance which allows you to get a full refund (excluding the cost of the insurance itself). The price of this insurance is 4% of the value of the purchased pass.

However, if you want to buy the pass on third-party sites such as Viator or Getyourguide (you will find the respective links at the bottom of this article) and not on the official site, consider that in this case the refund policies of the respective sites will be applied.

One last recommendation: once you have booked even one attraction your entire pass will be treated as activated and therefore you will no longer be able to request a refund.

    pros and cons

As usual, before showing you how this product works, let's list the pros and cons of the pass, in our opinion.

    • Pro: excellent flexibility, easy collection and use (e-ticket), high number of attractions to choose from (including a discount on the helicopter tour), many discounts for additional activities.
    • Against: this pass is one of the best on the market, having managed to match the direct competitor Go City New York Explorer Pass. Really difficult to find a disadvantage, if not the total price of the pass which can be to its direct competitors.

Compared to the Go City New York Explorer Pass

    • The Flex has a duration of 60 days, just like the competitor Explorer.
    • While Explorer offers a choice of 90 attractions, Flex allows you to choose between approx 100 attractions.
    • The convenience of the Flex is completely the same as that of the Explorer: you get to the 50% savings on the total ticket price.
    • The Flex, as mentioned, offers considerable discounts for Broadway and helicopter tours, unlike the Explorer. Moreover, a $ 40 credit on these and other activities has not been foreseen for long, for those who buy the pass directly from the official website.
    • It Flex offers notebook da 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 o 12, the Explorer instead provides a carnet from 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10. This product therefore offers an extra choice.
    • Limited to 5 and 10 attraction passes, the Flex currently has slightly lower rates compared to the Explorer:

Comparison with the Free Style Pass

Please note:: this pass is currently unavailable.

We have already talked about the Free Style, which is a very different pass from all the others; yet, if we had to make a comparison, the Flex, which is supplied by the same company (Gray Line) it could be particularly suitable. Take a look at our comparison between the Free Style and the Flex (+ other competing passes) - there are some important differences that might make you lean towards one or the other!

    Duration of the pass

Whatever the number of attractions included in the Sightseeing Flex, the pass will always be valid for 60 consecutive days starting from the first use, so if you use the pass for the first time on the first day of the week, you will have to use it to its fullest potential and without limits within the sixtieth day. What does this all mean?

If you arrive in New York and immediately use the pass for 2 or 3 days (for example), but then leave for the USA (or wherever you want to go ...!) To return to New York over two months later, upon your return to the Big Apple will no longer be able to use the pass. It is not the number of days the pass is used that counts, but the continuous period of use.

If you want to take advantage of the pass without wasting even a minute at your disposal, be careful to use the pass in the morning of the first day. If you will use it in the afternoon or in the evening you will have wasted half a day, since the actual duration time in the pass is not measured in hours, but in calendar days.

The pass is no longer valid if more than two years have passed since purchase.

How do i activate the pass?

The pass is active only and only after first use what you will do with it, whether you have visited an attraction, whether you have taken a tour or used a bus or ate in one of the restaurants included in the offer.

ATTENTION! Just like the Day, the Sightseeing Pass Flex it does not have the usage limit of once every 60 minutes, which was previously imposed and rather annoying. You will therefore have maximum freedom in organizing your city visits.

How can I buy the pass?

Just go to the official website or the links of the other retailers listed below and choose the pass according to the number of attractions that is right for you. After paying, the pass will be sent to you immediately by email! At this point you just need:
