The result was a rich and flourishing harvest. For this reason they felt the need to set up a day to thank the Lord for the gifts of cultivation. Of course, one of the foods traditionally used to celebrate this day was the pumpkin, considered the queen of the products of the land of the new world and that, in a short time, managed to conquer the palate of the colonists.

After about 50 years from the first day of Thanksgiving, it began to be used as a basic ingredient to make the famous pumpkin pie, characterized by a delicious heart of pumpkin pulp mixed with a mix of fragrant spices and milk. The British colonists used to cook this dessert over hot embers, as, at the time, they did not have ovens available. It was Amelia Simmons the cook who formalized for the first time, in 1796, the recipe of the pumpkin pie, decreeing its success internationally.

This delicious cake, we remember, is also prepared on the occasion of the end of the year (the so-called "Holidays"). Many pastry chefs, amateur and not, take advantage of it to make the delicious pumpkin pie which, to be made even more tasty, is often accompanied by either whipped cream or mozzarella ice cream.
