History, curiosities and information

Jorge M. Pérez Art Museum of Miami-Dade County (PAMM) started out as a museum dedicated to temporary exhibitions, without a proper permanent section. Founded in 1984, the museum immediately dedicated itself to contemporary art, works of international caliber born between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with the aim of filling that void typical of relatively recent cities.

In fact, in a young city like Miami, there was no real one space dedicated to contemporary art. The aim is to encourage anyone to see art as an incentive for communicative interaction and human exchange within everyone's reach.

What the founders and supporters of PAMM believe is that art and ideas have the power to enrich anyone's life as an integral part of making the world a better and fairer place.
