We visited Munich in one day why? we were passing through, if you don't want to stay overnight in the city? but a little out of the way, I recommend arriving by car, parking outside the center, where in the area c ?? a metro stop and move so? ..? pi? simple and more? fast.
We parked in Gabrielenstrasse street, street parking 6 euros all day, and then took the metro at the Maillingerstrasse stop, we arrived in the center, at the MARIENPLATZ stop.
A beautiful square, the most? ancient city , full of people, overlooking it the NEUES RATHAUS, a neo-Gothic building, and inside its imposing tower about 80 meters high, we find the carillon or the GLOCKENSPIEL, (literally translated game of bells),? format on two levels that at fixed times offers a wonderful show. When we went in the spring it rang at 11.00 to 12.00 and 17.00. In the winter months, from November to February only at 11.00 and 12.00. This music box? composed of 43 bells and 32 statues, which in the times indicated above begin to move, following the tolling of the bells and each level tells a story of the 16th century.
A little more? on the right, at the end of the square, we see the ALTES RATHAUS, the old Town Hall, where inside? present the museum of toys, much loved by children.
Hours: every day from 10.00 to 17.00.
Prices: adults 3?. - children 1 ?. - family ticket: 6 ?.
We pass the tower and we find ourselves in VIKTUALIENMARKT, the largest market. famous Munich, in operation for a couple of centuries, open from Monday? on Saturdays until 17.00 pm. C ?? a bit of everything, flowers, fruit, vegetables, typical products such as cheeses and cured meats, and specialties? Bavarians, many colors and flavors.
Do not miss KARLSPLATZ, also known as STACHUS, in the center a large fountain, called NORNENBRUNNEN, and a few meters away we see the KARLSTOR, one of the three ancient gates of access to the city? . We cross this door, and we find ourselves on a large street full of shops and bars, so we arrive? to the Cathedral, called FRAUENKIRCHE, in Gothic style. It has two very high towers and two domes above them. You enter for free.
There? really liked its interior, with frescoes and sculptures.
Let's go eat something at HOFBRAUHAUS, the choice falls on Bavarian chicken with potatoes and sauerkraut.
Once out we go to the nearby Marienplatz.
We take the subway back to the parking lot where we left the car.
What about ... in one day? possible to visit this city, obviously there would be other things but if yes? only in passing as in our case, selecting the most? interesting ... IT IS POSSIBLE!
