In the town of North Conway, against the backdrop of the fascinating Mount Washington Valley, stands a country inn (typical New England B&B) that should not be underestimated, the Merrill Farm Inn (428 White Mountain Hwy, North Conway, NH 03860), a structure that can be an excellent choice for those who are about to visit the spectacular White Mountains, a real natural jewel of New Hampshire. The reasons for choosing it are more than one ... let's see them together!

    An old farm ...

Il Merrill Farm Inn it stands on the remains of an old farmhouse from the end of the 700th century converted into a country inn around 1885. The location is certainly fascinating, right next to the Saco River, along which there are a series of independent bungalows and a lovely park with swimming pool. The entrance, the living room and some rooms are still part of the original building and the atmosphere inside the rooms and corridors is that of an old mountain refuge. Don't miss the romantic walk to the river just a few meters from your bed!

As soon as you enter you will be greeted warmly by two friendly receptionists. One of them is an excellent cook, you will have the opportunity to try it yourself by going back to 17 pm, the time of the cookie time, where you can taste the typical American homemade cookies, accompanied by hot tea and chips (all offered by the Merrill Farm) . If the appointment has escaped you, however, do not despair: you can always taste the delicious cuisine of the house for breakfast. Tender and flavorful muffins await you, available in virtually any flavor!

    The position!

Another aspect in favor of this B&B is the proximity to the attractions of the area. Located in the pleasant town of North Conway, with a main street that has all the necessary amenities, the Merrill Farm Inn is less than 7 miles from Echo Lake State Park, a beautiful lake suitable for families, 13 from the small village of Jackson, where I recommend you do not miss a breakfast at the quaint J Town Deli and a fine dinner at the historic The Wentworth.

We are also within an hour of:

    • the legendary Mount washington (the highest peak in the White Mountains, which I recommend to reach by the old cog railway)
    • the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, where world leaders met in 1944 to agree on a new international monetary policy. In the structure interesting free guided tours on the history of the hotel and the famous event are held. Do not miss the opportunity to have lunch at the excellent Stickney's (also inside the hotel).
    • Flume Gorge: probably the main attraction of the whole White Mountains park, a gorge bordered by 2 imposing granite walls. Thanks to the construction of a wooden footbridge, it is possible to cross the crevasse with ease. A walk within everyone's reach and at the same time wonderful.
    • The Basin: a natural pool of glacial origin with a swirling shape carved out by the action of natural agents.

Quality of stay at the Merrill Farm Inn

The hotel offers four types of rooms: lofts, bungalows, rooms in the new wing and those in the original structure. We slept in a loft, enjoying a truly comfortable stay with a rustic atmosphere. In addition, the friendliness of the owner and staff mirrors that of the most authentic New England country inns, making the Merrill Farm Inn a highly recommended B&B for anyone visiting the White Mountains area and enjoying an 'old style' New England stay.
