July is one of the best months to go and enjoy a well deserved vacation in Formentera. All the establishments are open and working at full capacity, tourists of all nationalities invade the main tourist resorts but the crowds in August are still far away. Of course, to enter Illetes sometimes you have to queue for a quarter of an hour just to pay the toll to enter the Natural Park. But it doesn't matter. The transparency and color of the sea will pay off the wait. This month is also full of typical events and unmissable appointments that will make your stay in Formentera truly unique and enjoyable. In this article, we point out some of the July events not to be missed if you are on holiday on the island.

1) Fashion catwalk. The tenth edition of the fashion catwalk will be held on July 22st, as always in the splendid setting of Piazza Europa Es Pujols. The event will start at 00:XNUMX and the creations of the best Spanish designers will parade. Many creations that will be previewed exclusively in one of the most evocative locations in all of Formentera.

2) Live music in the square: every Thursday evening in Es Pujols and every Friday evening in San Ferran you can enjoy the wonderful notes of the many local musicians who will enchant you with concerts and live performances. From jazz to popular songs, in July the streets of Formentera come alive with artists to the delight of tourists and more. Chimichurri, Jah Cango and other very entertaining island groups often perform.

3) Outdoor cinema. Every Tuesday from July to September in Sant Ferran it will be possible to attend a screening of a film illuminated by the light of the stars. The church square is transformed into a real summer arena, even if the films are all in Catalan or Spanish. And after the movie you can go to one of the many bars or restaurants in the small village, the hippest in all Formentera, to enjoy a cocktail or one of the many culinary specialties of the island. In addition to the cinema, there is also a lot of live music and an art market on the main pedestrian street.

4) The feast of Carmen. It is celebrated every year on July 16 in honor of the Virgin patroness of the sea and of all sailors. It represents one of the most folkloristic festivals of the whole island, very heartfelt and scenographic. The celebration begins with the country mass officiated by the Bishop of Ibiza and Formentera. Immediately after the image of the Virgin of Carmen leaves in procession on the sea followed by a procession of other boats. At a certain point, a laurel wreath is thrown as an offering to the Virgin. Back on land, the terrestrial procession begins. It is worth assisting if you are on the island.

5) La Mola market. Every Wednesday and Sunday in July the appointment is with the craft market in the charming square of La Mola. From June to October starting at 16 pm, this very suggestive market is set up in perfect hippie style. There are numerous stalls present, where you can find a little bit of everything, from handmade jewelry with precious and natural products by local artists, to costume jewelery items, hand-knitted wool sweaters and many other characteristic handicrafts.
