4) The feast of Carmen. It is celebrated every year on July 16 in honor of the Virgin patroness of the sea and of all sailors. It represents one of the most folkloristic festivals of the whole island, very heartfelt and scenographic. The celebration begins with the country mass officiated by the Bishop of Ibiza and Formentera. Immediately after the image of the Virgin of Carmen leaves in procession on the sea followed by a procession of other boats. At a certain point, a laurel wreath is thrown as an offering to the Virgin. Back on land, the terrestrial procession begins. It is worth assisting if you are on the island.
