Cookies are very famous biscuits, born in America but loved all over the world, also called Chocolate Chip Cookies. They are round and much larger than the classic biscuits, but their strong point is certainly the filling with many chocolate chips inside.

Of course, cookies can be modified to your liking, in some cases with the addition of dried fruit, candied fruit or even spices; other variations include the aroma of coffee, or a glaze halfway between white and dark chocolate, so as to form a crescent.

The origins

The origins date back to the 30s, thanks to the cook Ruth Wakefield, who worked at the Toll House Inn hotel; since Ruth used to prepare cookies, when one day she ran out of the creamy chocolate she always used, fortunately she decided to replace it with the whole one chopped into small pieces: and it is for this reason that the first cookies, being greatly appreciated by guests and also by the producer of the chocolate bought by the cook, they were called Toll House cookies.

Cookies are very simple to prepare, one more reason to follow the recipe.

Method

Ingredients for 10 people:

  • 225 g of flour 00;
  • 100 g of white sugar;
  • 75 g of brown sugar;
  • 125 g of butter;
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • 180 g of dark chocolate chips;
  • 1 egg.

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 190 ° C.

Melt the butter in a double boiler or in the microwave. Put the flour in a bowl and add the brown sugar, then the white one and mix everything, mixing the ingredients well.

Add the melted butter and mix making it absorb. Add the egg and finally the chocolate chips, being careful to work as little as possible with your hands so as not to melt them.

Finally add the baking soda and salt. Put the mixture in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. After the time has elapsed, form balls the size of a walnut and arrange them far enough from each other on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper if it is not non-stick. Cook for about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, let them cool on a wire rack.

If you prefer, you can also stuff them with cream, chocolate or Nutella, making small discs of dough and placing the mixture between one and the other.

All that remains is to taste them!
