Bridges and Italian Holidays 2020

Taking into account only the main religious and secular holidays, the calendar of this 2020 gives us several opportunities to carve out a short vacation. Let's find out, therefore, how to make the most of short days, which can however give us unique moments.

New Year's Eve 2020

The New Year's Bridge is the one that sees the departure of most Italian tourists, very often headed for the main European capitals, dream destinations to say "goodbye" to the old year and welcome new, exciting 365 days all from live, like the German Berlin, where you can greet the arrival of the new year under the legendary Brandenburg Gate, toasting side by side with the Berliners.

Tricolor alternatives are the timeless Milan and Rome, with concerts in the square and worldly clubs, for a brilliant and daring entry into the new year!

And if you can allow yourself 5 days of vacation, then you could significantly extend your vacation: starting from Wednesday December 25th, the weekend runs until Sunday December 29th; at this point, it would be enough to add Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 to arrive until the New Year on Wednesday 1 January. But while you're at it, take also Thursday and Friday and ... you get to the Epiphany of Monday 6 January, for a total of 13 days of vacation!
In this case, we advise you to spend the New Year in the heat in an exotic destination: Dubai, Bahamas, Zanzibar, you will be spoiled for choice! Certainly the required budget will be a little more, but it will certainly be worth it!

  • Bridge duration: 5 days - 2 holidays (Sunday 29 Dec, Wednesday 1 Jan), 3 weekdays (Saturday 28, Monday 30 Dec and Tuesday 31 Dec)
  • Recommended destination: Berlin and Dubai

Maxi-Christmas Bridge 2019 - New Year's Eve and Epiphany 2021: from Wednesday 25 December to Monday 6 January you can treat yourself to a 13-day vacation by taking some targeted holidays (7 days or even 5 if Saturdays are not working for you!)

Epiphany bridge

This year the Epiphany falls on a Monday, so you can organize a long weekend in Italy, even more so if for you Saturday is a working day like all the others.
Staying in Italy there are lots of pretty villages to explore, from north to south, including the islands! We want to suggest Pergine Valsugana, a pretty town in the province of Trento that from Christmas to Epiphany turns into the Enchanted Valley of Perzenland, a fantasy themed village inhabited by fairies, gnomes, elves and goblins !. Young and old can have fun among markets, fairs and exhibitions.

  • Bridge duration: Three days. 3 public holidays (Sunday 2 Jan and Monday 5 January), 6 weekday (Saturday 1 Jan)
  • Suggested destination: Pergine Valsugana, a village in Trentino

Maxi-Christmas Bridge 2019 - New Year's Eve and Epiphany 2021: from Wednesday 25 December to Monday 6 January you can treat yourself to a 13-day vacation by taking some targeted holidays (7 days or even 5 if Saturdays are not working for you!)

Easter and Easter Monday bridge

Take advantage, if you can, of the advantage of the long weekend to carve out a short but intense stay outside our borders. We recommend London, European capital that will know how to infect you with its Easter mood.
Alternatively, the beautiful Umbrian region is the ideal solution to stay in Italy, strolling among the characteristic villages and testing the tasty local food and wine.

  • Bridge duration: Three days. 3 holidays (Sunday 2 and Monday 12 Apr), 13 weekday (Saturday 1 Apr)
  • Suggested destination: London, capital of the United Kingdom

Bridge of 25 April - Liberation Day

On April 25, the day on which our nation celebrates the Liberation Day, unfortunately it falls on a Saturday. Therefore, if Saturday is a working day for you, you can take advantage of it for a two-day weekend. If, on the other hand, Saturday is generally not working for you ... well, unfortunately for you it will be as if it were not there!
Regardless, every occasion is good for a trip: you could evaluate the Italian alternative for those who aspire to a short relaxing stay at Free Baths of Saturnia, in Grosseto: a real Mecca for lovers of holidays in contact with nature and for those who wish to switch off by dedicating themselves to the care of body and mind.

  • Bridge duration: 2 days. 2 holidays (Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April)
  • Suggested destination: Terme di Saturnia, Grosseto

May Day Bridge - Labor Day

Labor Day falls on a Friday, so the long weekend is as good as ready!
You can plan a holiday in Italy or outside our borders.
If you prefer an evergreen Italian destination, Rome has always been a must, especially for lovers of good music, thanks to the maxi concert on May Day.
If, on the other hand, you prefer an alternative that is a little unusual but not too distant and equally fascinating, the Polish Krakow is for you: seeing is believing!

  • Bridge duration: Three days. 3 holidays (Friday 2 May, Sunday 1 May), 3 weekday (Saturday 1 May)
  • Suggested destination: Krakow, Polish cultural and artistic center

Bridge of 2 June - Republic Day

The Republic Day (June 2) is celebrated this year on Tuesday. It will therefore be enough to ask for a single day off (Monday 1st June) to guarantee yourself a nice 4-day holiday. Since it is already almost a summer period, we offer you a taste of heat and sea in the city of Lecce, fully elected the Florence of the south, a perfect union between a city of art and a land whose warm climate goes hand in hand with the sense of welcome of the population.

  • Bridge duration: 4 days. 2 holidays (Tuesday 2 Jun, Sunday 31 May), 2 weekdays (Saturday 30 May, Mon 1 June)
  • Suggested destination: Lecce, the Florence of the south

Ferragosto bridge

The Ferragosto bridge is one of the most awaited by Italians, also thanks to the possibility of organizing longer stays, taking advantage of the summer holidays. If you belong to the category of workers who pull the plug in the summer, you could opt for a "long" stay in one of the most popular European seaside destinations, the Iberian Ibiza, home of nightlife and the dream sea.
If, on the other hand, August is a working period like all the others, there are the Italian alternatives: Lignano Sabbiadoro, the inevitable Rimini, and again the many and beautiful places of Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia.

  • Bridge duration: 2 days. 2 holidays (Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 Aug)
  • Suggested destination: Ibiza, island of the Spanish nightlife

Halloween / All Saints' weekend - November 1st

The Feast of All Saints, which is celebrated on November st, is preceded by a very special celebration, in vogue in the USA and in the United Kingdom, which however is assuming significant importance also in Italy: Halloween. To celebrate this particular holiday, you could opt for a stay in the Irish capital, Dublin, with a visit to the main attractions of the city, interspersed with a sip of the freshest Guinness. The city is a perfect mix between the almost horrifying aspect of the witches 'party and the mysticism of the All Saints' celebration.

For lovers of good food, however, we recommend a curious and tasty initiative that takes place in the Piedmontese city of Alba: the International Truffle Fair, a more unique than rare opportunity to taste dishes based on the precious ingredient to say the least ... divine!

  • Bridge duration: 2 days. 1 public holiday (Sunday 1 Nov), 1 weekday (Saturday 31 Oct)
  • Suggested destination: Dublin, where sacred and profane meet

Immaculate Conception - December 8th

Intense the weekend of the Immaculate Conception, a day in which the Immaculate Conception is celebrated. Since this is a 4-day long weekend, with only a Monday to be requested between the party and the previous weekend (December 8 falls on a Tuesday), you can take the opportunity for a trip to Europe.
Our advice is Lyon, an often underestimated destination but which in these days shines more than ever. In fact, on the occasion of this bridge, the "Fête des lumières" takes place, an event that lights up the city in every corner for 4 days, with about 70 light installations and projections scattered around the city. Moreover, for the occasion also churches and monuments usually closed during the festival will be open to visitors.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to stay in the wonderful courtyard of our beautiful country, the advice is Naples, a real must for lovers of cribs. The Campania capital will surprise you with pleasant surprises capable of making the atmosphere truly fantastic. Alternatively, you could let yourself be conquered by the famous Luci d'Artista, in nearby Salerno.

  • Bridge duration: 4 days. 2 holidays (Sunday 6 and Tuesday 8 Dec), 2 weekdays (Saturday 5 and Monday 7 Dec)
  • Suggested destination: Lyon for the Fête des lumières

Christmas and Santo Stefano bridge

"Christmas with your family, Easter with whoever you want" goes an old saying. As a family or with another company, spend the Christmas and Santo Stefano Bridge in a European location where the party atmosphere can be breathed deeply, walking through the colorful markets and letting yourself be conquered by the lights and decorations that adorn every alley of this city : our advice is Vienna, the Austrian capital where the magic of Christmas takes shape in all its forms.

The Italian alternative could be Bressanone, a Altoadesina town that looks like a small wedding favor, where almost German precision meets hundred percent Italian courtesy and which, on Christmas days, gives its most generous and festive side.

  • Bridge duration: 4 days. 3 holidays (Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 Dec), 2 weekdays (Thursday 24)
  • Suggested destination: Vienna, mix between tradition and modernity

Maxi-Bridge Christmas / New Year 2020: from 24 December to 3 January you can treat yourself to an 11-day vacation by taking some targeted holidays (6 days or even 5 if Saturdays are not working for you!)

New Year's Eve 2021 and Epiphany

There is also room for a last bridge, the one between 2020 and 2021. If you can take three days off, you can give yourself almost a week in another exciting city of the old continent. We recommend Madrid, where you can welcome 2021 by eating, as usual, 12 grapes, one for each chime from the bells of the clock at the top of the "Puerta del Sol".

And if you can allow yourself 5 days of vacation, then you could significantly extend your vacation: starting from Friday 1st January, the weekend runs until Sunday 3rd January; at this point, it would be enough to add Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 to get up to the epiphany of Wednesday 6. But while you are at it, take also Thursday and Friday and ... you will arrive until the following weekend, for a total of 10 days of vacation!
In this case, we advise you to spend the New Year in the heat in an exotic destination: Dubai, Bahamas, Zanzibar, you will be spoiled for choice! Certainly the required budget will be a little more, but it will certainly be worth it!

  • Bridge duration: 6 days. 3 holidays (Friday 1, Sunday 3 and Wednesday 6 Jan), 3 working days (Saturday 2, Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 Jan)
  • Suggested destination: Madrid, between nightlife and tradition

Maxi-New Year's Bridge - Epiphany 2021: from Friday 1st January to Sunday 10th January you can treat yourself to a 10-day holiday by taking some targeted holidays (6 days or even 4 if Saturdays are not working for you!)
