Con i mezzi pubblici

If you have to travel by public transport, know that Trapani has only the service of urban bus managed by the company ATM Trapani (Transport and Mobility Company).

If you have limited time, and you do not want to give up visiting the famous salt pans, we recommend a guided tour that combines the visit of the historic center to the salt pans, where a local driver will accompany you to discover the history of salt and the most famous places in Trapani in a single day .

bus

The urban service of Trapani is managed by ATM and has 15 lines, which cover the entire area in a capillary way. The service is generally active from 6:00 to 23:00, with possible variations based on the single line or on holidays.

By car

The car is an excellent way to get around Sicily on the road, allowing you to easily reach the cities on your itinerary, but it is not the best choice for getting around the city.

The historic center of Trapani is indeed a ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone), therefore access to cars and vehicles is not granted except through special requests and permits that must be approved! The best solution is to leave the car at the edge of the ZTL and then move on foot. On the Lungomare Ammiraglio Staiti and in the area facing the Port you will find several blue line parking.

L'Car is recommended to reach more distant attractions such as the Saline or to move around the city.

ZTL

The historic center of Trapani is one Limited Traffio area, where vehicles are not allowed to enter, except for electric buses and for residents in the historic center, with valid authorization received from the Municipality. If you need to enter the ZTL for any reason, you must apply directly to the Municipality, using the downloadable form found on the official website.
For any further information and to identify the streets with limited access, you can consult the official website of the City of Trapani, where the map of the ZTL is also presented.

Stops and parking

Parking in Trapani is much easier than in many other cities! This is because i parking lots are numerous and scattered in different areas. The best solution, in order not to pay the cost of parking, is always to choose an accommodation that offers this service to its customers.

As already said, our advice is to park on the Lungomare Ammiraglio Staiti, especially in the area facing the Port.

If you stop in the city for just a day or need to find a parking space, on the edge of the ZTL, as well as throughout the city, there are many parking lots with blue stripes on the surface, which are divided into three different areas: red, yellow and green. Parking is subject to a charge every day, except holidays, at the following times: 8: 30-13: 30 and 15: 30-20: 00 or 24:00, depending on the area (the exact time is always indicated in the signs). The rates are the following: red zone € 0,80 / hour, yellow zone € 0,50 / hour and green zone € 0,10 / hour. You can find more info on the official website of ATM Trapani, with all the explanations also on the areas and payments.
