The tour in brief
This organized trip will allow you to visit Boston and its main places of historical interest, the destinations on the North of Boston coast, such as Salem, Gloucester and Manchester by the Sea, but will also give you the opportunity to take the boat trip to whale watching.
Duration and dates of departure
The New England Foliage Tour is held from 8 to 13 October, for a total duration of 5 days. It includes the accompaniment of an Italian guide for the duration of the tripin addition to some local guides that will accompany you in specific activities and guided tours.
Day 1: departure
Departure from Spain and arrival in Boston. Private transfer to the hotel, a short tour around the area to get familiar with the city, dinner in a restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 2: visit of Boston
Day entirely dedicated to visiting Boston and its history. The planned itinerary will take place along the Freedom Trail, a path marked by red bricks that touches a series of historic buildings that marked fundamental turning points for the American Revolution. The day also includes a visit to the characteristic neighborhood of Beacon Hill, with cobbled lanes, gas lamps and brownstone-style townhouses, Downtown, which alternates modern skyscrapers with important places of historical memory, North End, the picturesque Spanish district, and Charlestown, where the Bunker Hill Monument and the legendary USS Constitution are located.
Before returning, a trip to Cambridge is also planned, to take a pleasant walk to Harvard University, a historic institution where great political personalities (including future presidents of the States), actors and intellectuals were trained.
This will be followed by dinner in a restaurant in the center and overnight stay.
Day 3: Whale watching and JFK tribute
In the morning it is expected to move to the port of Boston from where cruises by motorboat for whale watching in the Cape Cod area, where humpback whales usually perform, cetaceans particularly known for their acrobatic skills, seeing them up close is a real show!
The afternoon is dedicated to one of the most illustrious personalities who marked the history not only of Boston but of the entire nation. In the area of Columbia Point in fact there is the John Fitzgerald Library & Museum, a stunning architectural structure in a scenic location that houses the largest collection of mementos and documents relating to JFK, his family and related presidential administration.
This is followed by a dinner in a restaurant in the center and return to the hotel.
Day 4: the colors of the Foliage
Day dedicated to the discovery of the thousand colors and the innumerable shades of autumn foliage. The chosen area is the so-called North of Boston, characterized by small villages and placid towns that represent the most typical and picturesque essence of New England. We will visit Salem, a city known for having been the scene of witch persecutions in 1692 and which, in the month of October, for the Halloween party, turns into a real jewel.
After a lunch of lobster (one of the most typical products of New England cuisine), we will visit Manchester by the Sea, set of the Oscar-winning film of the same name, e Gloucester, a typical fishing village full of fishing boats and nets moored at the quays.
Return to Boston with free dinner follows.
Day 5: free day in Boston and departure
The morning is free to do some shopping or other activities. The tour leader is available to provide tips and suggestions and possibly also accompany you on site. After free lunch, transfer to the airport for the return to Spain, where we will arrive on 13 October.
