Visit Formentera in one day: what to see
Many tourists who decide to go on vacation to Ibiza never give up a day in Formentera. In less than an hour by ferry (30 minutes with the fast ferry) you can be on the other island.
9.00 am breakfast in San Francesc Xavier
Al Big Store for example you can have breakfast very early. Opens at 08.30 in the morning. You can find it practically in the center of San Francesc. You can choose between a traditional breakfast, cappuccino and brioche, or to start the day with the right energy you can order a good fresh fruit smoothie. Then take a walk around the square, where it is located the Church, built in the XNUMXth century to defend against pirates. The precautions for defense were never too many, so much so that you will see two cannons at the top of the building. Just around the corner a small colorful "tienda". You can't go wrong. The owner Claudia is one of those mythical and historical characters of the island. In her small but cozy shop, love can be felt in every square meter.
11.00 am Walk on the beaches of Illetas and Llevante
You can easily reach the beaches by bus. On the way you will see the famous salt pans, and on the left near the bus stop an old man salt mill, dating from the nineteenth century. The mill is no longer in use and where once there was a warehouse to store salt today there is a restaurant. Continue to the beaches. The beaches of Illetas and Llevante are truly Caribbean, with white sands and crystal clear sea. An ideal morning to spend time in absolute well-being and relaxation .. and to revive the tan.
14.00 lunch at Playa Migjorn
Sea view lunch on the southern coast of the island, at Playa Migjorn. At Sa Platgeta, for example, you can order typical dishes of the culinary tradition of the island and enjoy a sea view. A little further on is the Vogmari, an elegant restaurant that prepares an excellent paella in different versions such as that of marcisco and negra.
16.00 afternoon in Cala Saona
Cala Saona is located on the western coast. Here to welcome us a small cove famous above all for the transparent water and the white sand. Along a small path you can also reach Punta Rasa, obviously on foot.
19.00 aperitif watching the sunset
It is worth getting lost in one of the beach bars to watch the sunset. The most historic of the island are the Piratabus, or Bartolo. The latter is located in Cala D'es Mort and a small kiosk right on the sea. Four tables and two chairs, an intimate place, typical of the island where you can enjoy a good "copa de vino" at sunset.
21 pm dinner in Es Pujols
The heart of the nightlife of Formentera is a Es Pujols, the town located right next to the salt pans. Here you will find several restaurants where you can dine overlooking the sea. I recommend the Varadero, which specializes in traditional dishes and fish recipes.
