Il Colorado is one of the western states of the USA, its territory borders to the north with Wyoming and Nebraska, to the east with Kansas, to the west with Utah and to the south with Oklaoma and New Mexico. Colorado is also called the Centennial State, or the Centennial State, as it became part of the US federation exactly one hundred years after the United States Declaration of Independence.
The name Colorado derives both from the river that flows inside it, and from the Spanish language, for the color that distinguishes the landscape, represented by the red of the rocks of its mountains.
The capital is Denver and it is the only metropolis of the state; in general the urbanization of the territory is rather small and concentrated in specific areas. Geographically the land is dry, in fact the rainfall during the year is scarce.
However, Colorado is a very popular destination for everyone, even for the jet set, as it offers ski slopes of all kinds, a noteworthy hotel welcome, thermal springs for relaxation and a series of locations where nightlife allows for pure fun.
The state was inhabited by Indian populations, which underwent colonization by Europeans who began to exploit the huge quantities of precious material that the territory offered, especially gold and silver. We remember the massacre of Saint Creek where most of the Cheyenne tribe she was killed by the gold-digging conquerors.
Denver, located at the foot of the Rockies, is a cosmopolitan city that combines the characteristics of American urbanization with those of the old West flavor. It should always be considered that the city is located at 1600 meters above sea level, so the body's need to restore its oxygen balance can initially create small disturbances.
As for winter sports, it is skiing it is practiced in the numerous equipped localities of the state, first of all Aspen, but also Vail. The latter is frequented by rich Americans and famous people who also go shopping in the boutiques of the area.
In summer, Colorado offers the opportunity to visit the Canyons with long hikes or even to experience the thrill of descending streams on adventurous rafts.
The cuisine in Colorado is linked to what a land that is not easy to manage can give, especially due to the arid climate. His recipes have contaminations that come from the Mexican tradition, we eat a lot of meat but also cereals and beans. Alongside the most refined restaurants and clubs in the cities, there are numerous fast food restaurants for travelers crossing this great state.
Nature and adventure
The numerous ski resorts in Colorado are equipped to allow you to enjoy the mountains in winter with cross-country skis, snowboards and inner tubes along the different slopes.
Colorado is also famous for its beautiful national parks, most notably the Rocky mountain national park, which offers breathtaking views and contact with animals such as bears, marmots, moose and bighorn sheep, typical of this area.
