It may happen that you decide to create a luxury hotel by reconstructing a previous building, it may also happen that in that building now destined to be demolished there is one of the historic places to eat burgers in New York, one of those places for which New Yorkers they go crazy.
What usually does not happen, however, is that the owners of the building decide to build their hotel around an old fast food restaurant, leaving it intact and in full operation inside the building, thus preserving what we can consider to all intents and purposes a institution of Manhattan.
This is the story that is told of the Burger Joint, a place that serves one of New Yorkers' favorite burgers. It is perhaps just a story, but one that adds charm to a fast food restaurant with an already bizarre and mysterious location: we are in fact talking about a real tavern that sells hamburgers inside the luxurious 4-star hotel. Le parker meridien.

Where is it and how to get there
The address of the Burger Joint (or the hotel, as you prefer) is 119 W 56th Street and is located just 3 blocks from the south entrance of Central Park, ideal for refreshment after a long walk in the countryside.
Enter the refined hall and ask what, in the opinion of many, is the best sandwich in New York; you will be instructed to continue until you find a large red tent, with a long line of people waiting their turn.
Here are the opening hours of the Burger Joint published on their Facebook page:
- Monday: 11:00 - 23:30
- Tuesday: 11:00 - 23:30
- Wednesday: 11:00 - 23:30
- Thursday: 11:00 - 23:30
- Friday: 11:00 - 24:00
- Saturday: 11: 00 - 24: 00
- Sunday: 11:00 - 23:30
What to expect
Once you have lined up, to pass the wait, fill the slip with the order (there is also in Spanish), the choice is quite simple: hamburger or cheeseburger, to which you can add lettuce as you like, tomato, onion, cucumber, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup and of course the chips.
To drink? Soda, water, milkshake, wine, draft beer (Sam Adams) or in jug and chocolate cake. Are you wondering if there is more? Well, as the owners of the Burger Joint:
If you don't see it, we don't have it! (If you don't see it we don't have it!)
Obvious isn't it? Of course, the choice may seem a bit limited, but here we are talking about the real, original and authentic burger, the one with no frills and too many sophistication.
Once inside, you will notice the evident contrast between the Le Parker Meridien hotel, a hotel with large neoclassical style lounges complete with Baroque music in the background, and the Burger Joint, fast food spartano with a vintage flavor full of posters and scribbles on the wall, with chairs and tables that seem to come straight from the 80s.
Don't expect to sit comfortably at a table waiting for a waiter. He will not come and in any case to find a place it will take some time, better then go to the counter and order your burger, in the meantime you will see that some places will become free.
Simple, spartan and straightforward, with few variations, but what goodness!
