Formentera by bike: itinerary for beginners
Even if you are not a professional cyclist, cycling remains one of the ideal means to visit the island without risking losing the most important things.
Departure is from the port the Savina, direction San Francesc Xavier, capital of Formentera. The road to get to San Francesc Xavier is flat but not asphalted so you have to be very careful with cars. Here in San Francesc you can admire the Church in the center of the square: erected between 1726 and 1738 and at the beginning it served as a fort to protect itself from the continuous invasions of pirates. Also worth a visit Ethnological Museum of Formentera which offers an overview of what life on the island was like before economic development and increased tourism.
From here we continue towards Es Pujols, the beating heart of Formentera. Here we find several clubs and restaurants. Despite the presence of many tourist activities and restaurants, this part of the island retains its most authentic flavor. Stop and watch the classic fishing boats and take a walk along the coast. If you want to stop for a lunch I recommend the Can Loca, where you can taste an excellent fish in salt and enjoy a breathtaking view from the terrace. In the afternoon you can take advantage of a dip in the sea and wait for the aperitif time. Don't miss the Rigatoni overlooking the sea, where you can order an aperitif in perfect style.
