A holiday all'Isola de s'Espalmador
The island of s'Espalmador is only 150m from the northernmost part of Formentera. It is a small islet about 3 km long and 1 km wide, and forms part of the Natural Reserve of Ses Salines d'Eivissa and Formentera. A real paradise on earth, crystal clear sea and white beaches. You will feel like you are in the Caribbean.
Despite its small size, the island welcomes visitors by offering diverse and great natural wonders. The most famous beach here is S'Alga beach, considered a natural harbor due to its closed form. A few minutes from the beach there is another attraction: the mud lagoon, where different species of birds nest. Here is absolutely forbidden to make mud. Let's not forget that we are inside a nature reserve.
The only monument is there Sa Guardiala Tower located at the highest point of the island. The tower served as a lookout to control the two islands from pirate invasions.
The island of S'Espalmador it is a private island belonging to an Anglo-Catalan family, and in fact there is practically nothing apart from their house. Don't expect to find restaurants, bars or beach clubs. Remember to bring water, snacks and sunscreen with you for your trip, and above all not to leave rubbish and to have the utmost respect for the environment.
How to reach the island of s'Espalmador:
It can be accessed with a ferry that leaves from the port of Formentera La Savina, or from the port of IIletas and then leads to Espalmador. You forget to walk or swim to the island. In this stretch of sea the currents are very strong and it is really dangerous.
