The Intercultural Festival returns to Formentera
Who said that in Formentera you can only have fun in the summer? Spring has begun, and the smallest of the Balearics is ready to show off all its charm and joy with many parties and initiatives for the inhabitants and tourists. It starts next weekend with the "Intercultural Party" that Sunday April 2 will animate Formentera with allegorical dances, shows and parades in which the different nationalities present on the island from thirteen countries of the world, four autonomous regions, as well as Formentera itself will be highlighted.
Purpose of the event, arrived at his fifteenth edition, it is precisely to hear, see and taste the traditions of other cultures that characterize the population of the island and show how it is possible to coexist in harmony.
Admission will cost 4 euros for adults, while it will be completely free for children up to twelve years of age. There are many bouncy castles and activities dedicated to children. These include the mask workshops, the Twister game, folk games, the recycling workshop to educate them to respect the environment and much more.
One of the new this year will be the musical theater which will begin at 13.00 with a musical performance directed by the school band, where the students of the dance course and of the school of the s'Esglai theater group will perform the opera “il Viatge MUSIC”. In addition, there will be concerts with the typical Welsh bagpipes and more: Cuban salsa, bachata, Brazilian music and dances from the Dominican Republic.
Space, of course, also at gastronomic specialties of the people living on the island. From 14.00 to 15.30 you can taste the cuisine of countries such as Cuba, Chile, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia, Brazil, Italy, Ecuador, Morocco, Germany, Paraguay, and communities such as Andalusia, Galicia, Valencia, Catalonia and Formentera. Each dish will be a small culinary journey in the local flavors of each of these lands.
This year, Furthermore, particular attention will be given to respect for the environment encouraging participants and citizens to bring their own reusable plates and glasses. Bins and ashtrays will be installed in all areas to prevent cigarette butts from ending up on the floor. Finally, one hundred volunteers who will take care of organizing and welcoming visitors in the best possible way.
A beautiful day of dance, food and good music therefore for a colorful and intercultural party.
