If you find yourself visiting the capital of Taiwan, you can't miss some typical local dishes. Taipei is huge gastronomic tour: its streets are full of cafes, restaurants and stalls that sell food directly on the street, which will bewitch you with their scents.
Consider that the locals do not usually divide the day into 3 main meals but eat continuously throughout the 24 hours: feel free to experiment and tantalize any type of dish at any time of day or night!

1 - Scallion pancakes

Of the small crepes prepared with two different flours and cooked on the plate, for a result that is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Try them stuffed with cheese, egg and ham.

2 - Bubble Tea

Cold black tea with milk and tapioca pearls, was born in Taipei in 1983 and since then thousands of variations have been created, all of them exceptional.

3 - Guao Bao

Slice of cooked bacon with coriander, peanuts and pickled vegetables, enclosed in a slice of steamed bread. Very soft and tasty, also ideal as a lunch on the go.

The beef noodles are there national Taiwanese soup. This is beef broth with steamed beef, pak choi and traditional Chinese noodles. It is accompanied by dry tofu and seaweed.

6 - Xiao Long Bao

Although they are originally from Shanghai, i ravioli stuffed with meat and broth depopulated in Taipei. The broth they contain is created by melting the meat broth cubes while steaming.

7 - Oyster omelette

Small oysters cooked in egg with sweet potato starch flour, served in broth: a sticky delight.

8 - Ba Wan

A giant dumpling of rice flour with corn starch and sweet potatoes which contains pork and vegetables inside. It is served in broth and is mainly enjoyed during the celebration of the new solar year.

9 - Rice pudding

Un steamed rice pudding inside a bamboo cylinder together with fried Chinese mushrooms, pork and eggs. Add spicy sweet turnip sauce and you won't be able to do without it.

10 - Yong He Dou Jiang Da Wang

La typical Taipei breakfast it's composed by sesame scones served hot and fried Chinese donuts. All accompanied by cold soy milk.

The gastronomic journey to take is to be carried out on the street and between open-air markets, in the same way as the Taiwanese, who find that eating "while walking" is much more convenient, as well as cheaper.

A truly original cuisine, based on rice, noodles, milky broths, fermented black eggs, oyster omelettes and pork soups; dishes with strong flavors and smells that characterize this original pret-à-porter gastronomy, which makes of Taipei one of the world capitals of street food.

Obviously there is no shortage of appetizing gourmet dinners, to be enjoyed comfortably seated at the restaurant.
